How to filter blogs

Blogging - does CyberPatrol filter blogging websites?
Although CyberPatrol does not contain a web category for Blogging websites, you can use other features to create your own lists and restrict access to such websites. In particular you can use the Blocked Keywords and ChatGard Keywords features.

Blocked Keywords
Using the Blocked Keywords feature you can restrict access to blogging websites based on the keywords you add to the blocked list. For example:

Blog
Myspace
Livejournal.com

Once the keywords have been added, if a user attempts to access any website with one of these words in the web address or URL, it will be blocked.

To add blocked keywords:

1. Open HQ and log in with your password.
2. Click on 'Customize Filter Settings'.

3. Click on 'Customize' next to Web Filtering.

4. Click on 'My Blocked Keywords...'

5. Add the keywords you wish to block to the list and save your changes.

NOTE: If a keyword you add as blocked is a part of a longer word, it may block a website you do not wish to be blocked. You can tell if a website is blocked by a keyword since the reason for blocking will be displayed as 'Blocked by a Keyword'.

ChatGard Keywords
You can use the ChatGard Keywords feature to add words and phrases that you do not want your users typing while on the Internet. You can also specify and add programs you wish to monitor via ChatGard. When a user attempts to type one of the blocked words/phrases, it will be "dotted" out like "......".

To access the ChatGard keywords:

1. Open HQ and log in with your password.
2. Click on 'Customize Filter Settings'.

3. Click on 'Customize' next to ChatGard Filtering.

4. Click on 'My Blocked Words and Phrases'.

5. Add the necessary keywords and phrases to the list and save your changes.
