Monitoring Info

The monitoring function within CyberPatrol lets you monitor chat activity by computer and individual user. Alerts are generated as a result of monitoring popular chat sites for trigger words or phrases. Three categories of chat are monitored; Harassment, Sex Chat, and Custom Terms. You select the type of alerts that you want to use.

The alert packages monitor popular chat programs and social networks looking for potentially harmful or risky activity. The monitoring function checks for incoming and outing instances of trigger words or phrases. Should an instance occur, the safety center manager is notified by e-mail.

Getting a single or several alerts does not necessarily mean that suspicious activity is taking place. However, if alerts are persistent and take place over an extended period of time, it’s probably time to further examine the situation and take some action.

Monitored chat groups include:

  • Windows Live Messenger
  • Windows Messenger
  • Yahoo Messenger
  • Facebook IM
  • MySpace IM
  • Google Talk
  • Psi ˜
  • Jabber/XMPP Clients

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION Cyber Patrol uses proprietary software to analyze communications and determine the possibility of inappropriate activity. While we do our very best to assure that all incidents of inappropriate communication are properly identified and that you are notified, the nature of this type of activity makes it impossible for any technology to be 100 percent accurate all of the time.
