SETTING UP TIME MANAGEMENT

You use the Time Management screen to set a Internet surfing time limit for each user. By default CyberPatrol allows filtered surfing from 7.00 am until 11.00 pm. Between 11.00 pm and 7.00 am, Internet access is disabled.

Time Management Options

Enable Time Management

Enables Time Management if checked. If left unchecked, there are no times restrictions in place.

Reminder Minute

Displays a Reminder dialog a short time before access to the Internet is blocked due to the user either reaching their pre-set limit or a filtered access period is changing to blocked access. You can set this to any time that you feel is useful within a range of 1-60. Changing the Reminder time value to 0 will switch it off. When a Reminder is set CyberPatrol behaves in the following way:

  • Displays a warning dialog telling the user that Internet access is about to be blocked.
  • Start to count down the time in minutes until it reaches the timespan set in the Reminder option.
  • Stops Internet access.

Weekly Limit

Specifies how much surfing time the user can have access to throughout the week, from Monday through Sunday. CyberPatrol adds up the time spent surfing on a daily basis and compares this against the value that is set as the maximum total weekly surfing allowed. When the maximum time is reached Internet access is blocked. The time is reset at the beginning of the next week.

Daily Limit

Sets a limit of surfing time for each user. The daily limit works within the weekly limit and does not override the blocked access settings set in the Time management graph.

    Time Management Settings

  2. Verify that you have the correct User selected in the User Profile drop-down list at the top of the Time Management screen.
  3. Check Enable Time Management to turn Time Management on. If left unchecked, Time Management is off.
  4. Enter a weekly limit of Internet access for the user in the Weekly Limit box to provide a cumulative surfing time.
  5. Decide how much warning the user will need before their access to the Internet is blocked and enter this number into the Reminder Minutes box.

Note: Entering 0 or a number less than 5 as a value turns the Reminder off. 5 is the minimum time value that can be entered into the Reminder Minutes box.

  6. Click on the graph and drag the box that appears so that it covers all of the times that you want to set to filtered or blocked access.
  7. If you want to set a daily limit for access to the Internet you can do so by entering a number into the Daily Limit list box alongside each day shown on the graph.
  8. Set the selected area to Filtered or Blocked access by clicking the Set to Filtered Access button or the Set to Blocked Access button.
  9. Click Save.
